The Educational Psychology Service (EPS) work to promote positive child development and learning through the application of psychology. The North Team covers Kettering, Corby, Wellingborough, and East Northants.
The EPS help children and young people overcome barriers to successful learning. These barriers might arise from:
- Learning difficulties and special educational needs (SEN)
- Behavioural, social or emotional needs
- Physical, medical or sensory needs
The EPS may be contacted for help and advice by:
- Schools or early years settings
- Health professionals
- Additional needs teachers
- Pre-school staff
- Social workers
- Other professionals working with children
The EPS will offer consultation on concerns raised and agree an action plan. If the concern is about a child, parental permission must have been given before they will be involved.
The EPS provide Targeted Mental Health in Schools (TAMHS)
, a coordinated multi-agency programme for building capacity within schools through training, support and introducing new programmes and approaches to better meet the mental health needs of all children

offering a wide range of supportive interventions for children and young people, their families and carers, and the professionals who support them.
The EPS provide the The Baby Room Project
which aims to raise the quality of babies’ experiences by strengthening relationships between practitioners and babies, and parents and their babies.
