Service description:
As well as launching the card scheme Learning Disability Partnership Board (LDPB) have also encouraged local organisations and business to become official 'Keep Safe places'. This involves staff at the location receiving training, which usually lasts for one to two hours, so that staff have a greater understanding of the scheme and learn about communication with people with learning disabilities. Staff are not expected to be experts or provide in depth support, simply to assist the person in contacting the right people for help/support, whether that be the police, ambulance or family/support workers.
