Service description:
Paget Gorman Signed Speech (PGSS) is an accessible signing system which supports the education and communication of children with speech, language and communication needs.

The Paget Gorman Society is a charitable trust dedicated to helping children with speech and language disorders. Its work depends on voluntary enthusiasts, among whom are parents, speech and language therapists, teachers and others who use PGSS. The society provides information for parents and professionals. It co-ordinates the development of Paget Gorman Signed Speech ( PGSS ) and awards qualifications

Paget Gorman Signed Speech (PGSS) aims to provide an accurate representation of the English language. Signs are always accompanied by speech, using normal patterns of English and children are encouraged to speak as they sign. The system is an important educational tool; it is not necessarily intended to be used as a means of communication throughout life.

It provides a visual representation of language. It follows typical spoken word order and it's vocabulary is concept based around a set of basic signs. It includes grammatical features, eg. plurals, verb tenses, and pronouns.
