Take an important step to further education or progress in your work.

Following an initial six weeks 'Get Ready for Functional Skills English or Maths Course', the full course lasts a further 26 weeks. The full course leads to a City and Guilds Functional Skills Certificate.

Functional skills courses are free for adults aged 19 and over, who have:

  • lived in UK or EU for 3 years or more
  • not previously achieved GCSE grade 4 / C or above 

Please note:

  • These courses are not suitable for people with a low level of spoken English as a second language (ESL)
  • These are not GCSE courses. You will need to contact your local college if you are interested in GCSE courses

We will try to help you find ways to take your new skills and enthusiasm further for more learning, volunteering and towards employment. Some of our courses can lead onto a nationally recognised qualifications.

The Adult Learning service offers a range of courses including: arts, beauty therapy, sport, languages and information technology. They are available across the county, as well as locally in Corby.
