Important

Functional skills courses are free for adults aged 19 and over, who have:

  • lived in UK or EU for 3 years or more
  • not previously achieved GCSE grade 4 / C or above

Please note:

  • These courses are not suitable for people with a low level of spoken English as a second language (ESL)
  • These are not GCSE courses. You will need to contact your local college if you are interested in GCSE courses
  • Where else can I learn English? (PDF 413KB)

We will try to help you find ways to take your new skills and enthusiasm further for more learning, volunteering and towards employment. Some of our courses can lead onto a nationally recognised AIM qualification.

Next steps

Our partners range from housing associations and town councils to libraries and from the Job Centre Plus to day centres for disabled and elderly people.

All your tutors care for, encourage and go that extra mile for our learners.

- Gill Correa, KCU (Kettering)

Through discussion with your local curriculum co-ordinator we can help your clients and users to progress towards employability, volunteering and independent living in the community.

We welcome enquiries from local organisations in our towns who would like to know more about how we can work together. You can find out more about offering a Neighbourhood Learning course through your organisation as a partner by contacting your local curriculum co-ordinator:
