Budget information

Documents and information relating to the next financial year 2019 to 2020.

2019 to 2020 early years single formula funding

Rates for the early years single formula funding for 2019 to 2020 are published on the early years website.

The early years budgets shown by setting are indicative based mainly on the Summer 2018 headcount. Please take a copy of the budget tool statement for your setting and update the hours with your own forecasts to improve the accuracy of your estimated budget for 2019 to 2020.

Primary, secondary school, and academy indicative budgets for 2019 to 2020

The indicative budgets include information on grants and funding together with the formula funding. The indicative information is based on 2018 to 2019 information and is meant as a guide to help the budget setting process. Where better local information on pupil numbers or updates to high needs funding exists, the budget should be amended to reflect a school's more up-to-date information.

For academies, the information on place funding to be received direct from the ESFA is not included in the above indicative budget but will be shown on your GAG statements.

2019 to 2020 special schools budget

The Dedicated Schools Grant (DSG) budget for special schools is published below. This includes an indicative figure for the top up. The top up shown is the matrix* based top up, which is updated twice per year, based on September and January returns. The place funding shown is fixed, based on the places in the September matrix return from the prior year, and does not change once set.

*Work on the move to a RAS based top up system is still under way and will be shared with special schools as soon as possible. The planned RAS funding (replacing matrix top up funding) introduction date is September 2019.

This budget information does not include other grants such as pupil premium grant or capital grants.

School formula budgets for 2019 to 2020

The results of the schools funding consultation 2019 to 2020 have been fed back to Schools Forum in December 2018. Please see the Schools Forum page of the Committee website, agenda item 6a. The budget setting process is underway and further information was taken to the Schools Forum meeting on 17 January 2019 (Agenda Item 8).

The government's schools funding formula tool was submitted on 21 January 2019 and, once reviewed and signed off by the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), we will then publish here.
