Healthy mental health and wellbeing is about doing everything we can to effectively manage our thoughts, feelings and actions in a way that helps us function in our day-to-day lives.

Good mental health and wellbeing is important in order to feel good about yourself, to get the most out of your life and to feel connected to others. Public Health Northamptonshire work with a range of free support services to help you make changes in your life, to improve your mental health and wellbeing and help you cope with stress, anxiety and depression.

​This service is for anyone over 17 and a half, living in Northamptonshire and experiencing mild to moderate depression and/or an anxiety disorder.

Staff will assess your needs and then work with you to identify the best ways to support your mental health and wellbeing. This could be via group work, online cognitive behavioural therapy, online wellbeing groups or face to face support.

​Getting older is tough enough, we leave work and sadly, we lose friends and partners. Managing that change and keeping our emotional wellbeing healthy is difficult but Northamptonshire Age UK has the experience and knowledge to help. The organisation provide information and advice on a wide range of services including financial advice, support groups and access to other services.

Northamptonshire Age UK

​As part of the mental health Northamptonshire collaborative (MHNC) our mental health navigation team provides support in the community to help people improve their general wellbeing. Our service is designed for people experiencing difficulties with their emotional wellbeing, living conditions and physical health. Our county wide service is delivered in partnership with Mind.

This service is available to adults aged 18 years and over. Referrals are received from GP's, primary care liaison workers, secondary professional services, as well as self-referrals direct to the team.

For those that have accessed the service there is a fast track process for further support.

NHFT - Mental health navigators

​Northampton and District Mind works to promote and support good mental health in the areas of Northampton, Daventry, Brackley, Towcester and South Northants. Committed to achieving and sustaining a high level of quality in its service provision, Northampton and District Mind has been awarded the highest level of the Mind Quality Management assessment.

All of our services are underpinned by a 'stay well in their own communities' value-base of promoting social inclusion and individual development, progression and recovery to aid individuals to live independently and stay well in their own community.

Northampton MIND

CAMHS stands for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. CAMHS are the NHS services that assess and treat young people with emotional, behavioural or mental health difficulties.

CAMHS support covers depression, problems with food, self-harm, abuse, violence or anger, bipolar, schizophrenia and anxiety, to name a few.

There are local NHS CAMHS services around the UK, with teams made up of nurses, therapists, psychologists, support workers and social workers, as well as other professionals.​
