Northamptonshire hosts a range of major sporting events throughout the year which require volunteers. These include England Hockey's Indoor Hockey 5s semi-finals, British Cycling's 'Women's Tour' and Sainsbury's School Games.
Northamptonshire Sport provide a volunteering service called Event Makers for these events and many others across the county. Event Makers are enthusiastic people who enjoy giving their time to help local sporting events run smoothly. There are a range of roles including marshals, liaison officers and mascots.
The School Games is a unique opportunity to motivate and inspire millions of young people across the country to take part in more competitive school sport.
The Northamptonshire School Games is part of a national programme of competitive sport that is open to all young people in every school across Northamptonshire. It is a celebration of competitive sport that involves young people aged 5-18 years, of all abilities and backgrounds.
Cycling events for women
British Cycling’s Breeze is the largest programme with the aim of getting more women into riding bikes for fun and help thousands of women feel confident and comfortable going on a ride. British Cycling has a vision to attract one million more women to cycle regularly by 2020.
