Bus passengers are advised that the price of the Northampton Buzz Card is set to increase next week.

The card offers unlimited travel on most services across the whole of Northampton borough, Grange Park, Boughton and Moulton. It is valid on the majority of bus services in Northampton operated by Stagecoach, First, Meridian Bus, Arriva/MK Metro, Souls, Yorks and Country Lion.

From Monday, February 15:

  • A one-day ticket will change from £3.50 to £3.70, (tickets available from bus drivers)
  • A week ticket will change from £13 to £14 (available from bus drivers or PayPoint outlets)
  • A four-week ticket will increase from £43 to £46 (only available from Paypoint outlets)

Passengers are also being informed via leaflets and posters on the buses.

The Northampton Buzz Partnership includes Northamptonshire County Council and the major bus operators in Northampton. Buses on buzz routes cover more than 10,000 miles every day.

The Northampton Buzz Card was introduced in 2006 to give passengers a bus ticket that allows them to make unlimited journeys on most bus services in Northampton. Last year ticket sales for the card passed the 500,000 mark.

The Buzz card represents good value when compared with purchasing separate day tickets from two different operators. It would benefit anyone who has to catch two buses from different operators to get to work. It also gives the flexibility for a passenger to catch the first bus that comes along if there is more than one operator on their route.

For more information about Buzz Cards passengers can either visit www.northamptonshire.gov.uk/buzzcard or ask the bus driver next time they purchase a ticket. For bus timetable information people should telephone ring Traveline on 0871 200 22 33.
