Earlier today (Wednesday 10 March) the Court of Appeal Criminal Division rejected the appeal of Neil Stansfield to reduce the 27-month prison sentence imposed on him by Judge Bray at Northampton Crown Court in September 2009 for his part in a substantial organic food fraud.

Details of the sentencing and subsequent confiscation orders obtained by Northamptonshire County Council’s Trading Standards team can be found at

Councillor Andre Gonzalez De Savage, the council's cabinet member for customers and communities, said: "This was a large scale fraud that saw consumers and legitimate businesses deceived out of hundreds of thousands of pounds. We are pleased that the original sentence has been upheld as it reflected the seriousness of the offending.
