The county’s new tourist information centre based at Sessions House in Northampton is set to be open six days a week from this Saturday (1st May 2010).
The new tourist information centre was opened in March this year at the Sessions House, following an extensive refit to the 17th century, grade 1 listed building in the centre of Northampton.
Up until this weekend, the centre has been open on week-days only but from 1st May the tourist information centre will be open to the public from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturdays. These are seasonal opening hours and will continue until October.
The centre offers information about events in the county well as details about holiday accommodation or places to visit. It also has an exhibition space which includes the history of Sessions House and some of the stories of crime and punishment that took place at this historic location.
The centre also has fully-accessible toilet facilities including a changing place toilet; a changing place is a larger disabled access toilet that provides a bed and hoist to support people who have a higher level of care needs.
