Pupils at a Northamptonshire school are bottling the essence of Kettering through a mosaic they are creating using rubbish.

Bottle tops and other waste items are being used by pupils at Park Junior School, Kettering, to create the mosaic. Officers from the Northamptonshire Waste Education Team, which is a partnership project between Northamptonshire County Council and the district and borough councils, have organised the event to create a mosaic for the new Kettering household waste recycling centre on Garrad Way in Telford Industrial Estate.

The mosaic, which will be 12ft by 6ft, has been designed using images the pupils have created which covered four topics, shoes, architecture, Kettering Town Football Club and Wicksteed Park - all key aspects of Kettering Town.

The initiative is part of national Recycle Week (June 21st to 27th) and the mosaic will be unveiled at the new household waste recycling centre in July at the official opening ceremony.

You are invited to send a reporter/photographer to Park Junior School, Wood Street, Kettering, between 1:10 p.m. and 3:10 p.m. on Tuesday 22nd June 2010, where the pupils will be working on the mosaic.
