Northamptonshire County Council’s chief executive is getting into training to take part in The Run ’10 in October.

Chief executive Paul Blantern is leading a team of 12, including council directors Charlie MacNally, Alex Hopkins and Paul Burnett in running the 5km run.

They will be running the route through the centre of Northampton, which passes by iconic Northamptonshire sites, such as the Express Lifts Tower, Saints RFU, All Saints Church, the Market Square and finishes at the ‘Cobblers’ Sixfields Football ground.

Last year, the Run had over 2,000 people taking part and it is hoped that this year’s event will be bigger and better than ever.

Paul Blantern, Chief Executive of Northamptonshire County Council, said: “This is an excellent opportunity to take part in one of Northamptonshire’s premier events. It offers the chance to get fit and raise money for a good cause, whilst promoting a bit of friendly competition in the workplace. I would encourage everyone else to take part too.”

Andre Gonzalez de Savage, cabinet member for customers and communities said: “I took part and completed the run last year with all the family. It's a fun and great way to keep healthy too! Do it with friends or family and have a brilliant time. Why not take the challenge and raise some worthy funds for a good cause too.”

Entries are still open for adults and children to take part in the Run, which takes place on Sunday 3rd October and costs between £8 and £15 depending on the distance. To find out more information visit: http://www.the-run.org/#/home
