Northamptonshire County Council’s library service is hosting a festival to celebrate diversity, culture and faith throughout the county.
One Community, Many Cultures is running for two weeks at Central Library in Northampton, Weston Favell Library & Wellingborough Library.
Highlights include journalist and writer, Rageh Omar, who will be at Central library speaking about what it means to be a Muslim in modern Britain.
Northamptonshire young people will premiere four short films inspired by the Olympic Games along with an Aerosol Art canvasses exhibit.
Councillor Andre Gonzalez de Savage, County Council Cabinet Member for customers and communities said “This celebration provides an opportunity to learn about Northamptonshire’s diverse community and individual heritage. One Community, Many Cultures highlights shared values and develops understanding through the challenging of misconceptions.”
The festival will culminate with a cultural marketplace showcasing traditions and successes from each community. This will include activities from drumming and dancing to food tasting sessions, storytelling and arts and craft activities.
The event is free and runs until 30th October. For more information about the festival and activities featuring in each library please visit www.northamptonshire.gov.uk.
