A rural English village will play host to a famous namesake at the opening of its new school hall and classroom this week (THURS 3 MAR)
Broadcaster and gardener Alan Titchmarsh is the guest of honour at the opening ceremony of Titchmarsh Primary School’s £660,000 new hall and classroom where he will officially raise the school’s eco flag.
The project at Titchmarsh saw the replacement of a mobile classroom and temporary hall facility with a new permanent extension housing a school hall, a kitchen for the provision of hot school meals, and a new classroom with storage and additional toilets.
The funding for the project came from a school contribution of £25,000 with the remainder from Northamptonshire County Council’s primary capital programme.
Headteacher Josephine Milton said: “We are delighted with our wonderful new accommodation and facilities. We are excited about the wide range of opportunities that have opened up to us. I would like to thank everybody involved for their support over the past year as our school has been transformed. A special thanks and congratulations to the staff of Titchmarsh school for their dedication, team work and sense of humour!”
Titchmarsh Primary School is a lower school for children aged 4 to 9 years (Reception to Year 4). There are currently 82 pupils on the school roll.
