12 July 2011

Lines open today (Tuesday 12th July) for anyone who wants to take part in an adult learning course this autumn.

Whether it’s learning how to make a curry, adding Spanish to a CV or taking up the guitar, Northamptonshire County Council offers a vast amount of adult learning courses for people to gain a new skill or pick up an old favourite hobby.

The courses can range from ten weeks to two hours, and with 700 classes scheduled throughout the day, evening and weekends, people are bound to find an interesting course that is worthwhile for them. They are available all around the county in various venues making the classes easily accessible; they also begin at different times throughout the year so people won’t miss out.

Details of all the courses such as Tai Chi, criminology or parent and baby swim are all available from the brochure. Enrolment couldn’t be easier with lines open from the 12th July from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. Anyone who books their place before Friday 26th August they will be entered into a prize draw to win a laptop computer (donated by Fujitsu).

"It’s a great opportunity to meet new people that enjoy the same pastimes and have similar hobbies to you" said cabinet member for children, learning and skills Councillor Andrew Grant. "Not only this, but the skills acquired during the classes could give people more confidence or even help improve a CV. The chance to win a laptop when booking early is also a great opportunity."

People can see the full range of courses adult learning has to offer by picking up a brochure or looking on www.northamptonshire.gov.uk/adultlearning
