Education providers are being invited to put their names forward to be in the running for Corby’s newest school.

Northamptonshire County Council has today (23rd August) agreed to proceed to the next stage in providing a second primary school for Corby’s Oakley Vale estate.

The invitation to bid stage will see potential operators of the new school invited to submit proposals for how they would run the school. A cabinet sub-committee will be established to determine the successful bidder.

Councillor Andrew Grant, cabinet member for children, learning and skills, said: “We have identified the need to establish a new primary school of 420 places school to meet the growth in population on the Oakley Vale development.

“Potential bidders will be asked to submit their proposals for the council’s consideration. Running alongside that proposal, we plan to carry out consultation with the local community about the design of the new school ahead of the detailed design stage.”

It is proposed that the new school would be ready to open in September 2013.
