More than 50 foster carers, social workers and young people will be adding their voice to Northamptonshire County Council’s drive to recruit new foster carers with the recording of a song to mark Foster Care Fortnight.

‘Fostering the Future’ was written by one of the county council’s social workers and will be recorded next week in preparation for its release in Foster Care Fortnight (May 16th to 29th).

The song asks people whether they have room in their heart, home or family for a looked after child and as a county, we can foster hope and a future for these vulnerable children.

Once recorded, the song will be available to download on iTunes. Depending on the success of the song, the county council hopes to use any money raised to buy presents for some of our looked after children.

Social workers, foster carers and members of the county council’s music service youth choir will be there for its recording.

The county council wants to recruit 45 new foster carers. The more foster carers the county council has in Northamptonshire, the more it can place these children closer to school, family and friends.

There is an urgent need to recruit foster carers for teenagers.
