Northamptonshire County Council is inviting people who love their library to consider becoming a volunteer at the new Towcester library.

Staff are preparing to move into the new library at The Forum in Moat Lane ahead of the opening on Thursday 9th April and they are looking for people to lend a hand.

There is a huge amount of stock to be moved into the new building – including 15,000 new library books – once the current library closes on Monday 16th March.

Get involved

There are lots of opportunities to get involved in helping the community at the new library after its opening:

  • Greeting customers and helping them find the information they are looking for
  • Helping customers to develop IT skills, and access online services
  • Supporting other volunteers and working as part of a team
  • Spreading the word about events, activities and services available at the Forum

Cllr Robin Brown, county council cabinet member for public health and wellbeing, said: “The opening of the new Towcester library is a momentous occasion and a fantastic opportunity for some of our loyal customers to get involved in helping us to prepare the new building for the grand opening.

“There is also a great range of volunteer roles on offer for people who would like to give their time more regularly, from greeting customers as they arrive at the library to spreading the word about what’s happening at Towcester library.

“I would encourage anyone who might be interested in becoming part of the team to get in touch with the library to find out more.”
