Snail racing, mini-beast identification and a rubbish-sorting game are just some of the activities on offer at a family day at Brixworth Country Park.

Taking place on Friday, July 31 the event is aimed at providing a fun way to learn about how mini-beasts and bugs play their part in breaking down waste to make compost.

But as well as fun for children there will also be tours for adults around a compost lab, expert advice from master composters and free bee-friendly seeds.

Organised by the Northamptonshire Waste Partnership, which is comprised of Northamptonshire County Council and the county’s seven borough and district councils, activities take place between 11am and 3pm.

In addition there will be a limited number of discounted compost bins available for keen gardeners to take away.

These will be sold at a special one time only price of £10 per 220 litre bin. All money raised will go towards projects at Brixworth Country Park.
