Parents are being reminded to submit their application for a primary, junior or middle school place for September 2016 before the deadline of 15 January.
The deadline for submitting an application to Northamptonshire County Council entry to primary school (reception), junior school (Year 3) and middle school (Year 5) is 5pm on Friday 15 January.
Applications received after the deadline will be considered late applications and therefore will not be processed until a later wave of allocations taking place from May 2016 onwards.
Cllr Matthew Golby, county council cabinet member for learning, skills and education, said: “Northamptonshire has one of the fastest growing populations in the country and that places a huge demand on school places. Nearly 900 children requiring a school place have moved into the county in the past three months alone.
“We have a capital programme in place to build new schools and expand existing schools to cope with demand, but these figures show why it is so important for parents to submit their application on time to give themselves the best chance of securing a place at one of their preferred primary, junior or middle schools.”
Ninety per cent of families were allocated a place at their first choice primary school for September 2015, while 97% were given a place at one of their three preferred schools.
How to apply
Applications can be submitted online at www.northamptonshire.gov.uk/admissions.
Families who submit an online application on time will find out which school they have been allocated on Monday 18 April.
