Construction work to build a new signalised gyratory at the junction of Wootton Hall Park, Northampton, is progressing well.

The £2.7million Northamptonshire County Council scheme in Mereway will help improve traffic safety and vehicle flow on the town’s ring-road, including access to the Wootton Hall site.

Weekend lane restrictions and closures had been scheduled for 29 January to 1 February but these will now take place the following weekend, 5 February to 8 February.

Friday, 5 February (8:00pm) to Sunday, 7 February (6:00pm) – westbound carriageway fully closed; eastbound carriageway restricted to one lane.

Sunday, 7 February (6:00pm) to Monday, 8 February (6:00am) – full closure of both carriageways.

From 6:00am on Monday, 8 February both carriageways will be open with a 20mph limit in place.

Further works

Throughout the works until April there will be off-peak lane closures between Mondays and Fridays (9:30am and 3:30pm). These will be introduced depending on requirements, with a 20mph speed limit in place during these times.

In early April a full road closure will be required for the final road surfacing and reinstating of road markings. This will take place at a weekend, with the exact date still to be determined. After the resurfacing work is completed work will continue under traffic management until the scheduled completion date in May.

As ever with Highways works, dates could change dependent on weather conditions.
