The OVO Energy Tour Ride Northamptonshire returns to the county this summer and families are being invited to sign up for the 10-mile fun ride.
The Tour Ride is a community cycling event inspired by the OVO Energy Women’s Tour race, which returns to Northamptonshire next month for the fourth consecutive year.
The Tour Ride, the official sportive of the race, takes place on Sunday 18th June and aims to encourage more people to get active and take up cycling.
Offering a choice of 10, 40 and 80-mile routes, the Tour Ride has been created with both amateur cyclists and families in mind.
The gentle 10-mile fun ride is ideal for families, starting and finishing at Delapre Abbey and taking riders alongside the canal path on quiet, marshalled and well-signposted cycle lanes.
The ride is suitable for riders aged seven and above, or five and above on a trailer or a tag along, and costs £5 per adult to enter and children under 16 ride for free.
Cllr Matthew Golby, deputy leader of Northamptonshire County Council, which is responsible for bring the OVO Energy Women’s Tour and Tour Ride back to the county this year, said:
“The Tour Ride is a fantastic, fun event for both families and more committed cyclists.
“I took part with my own family last year and it was a great event. The atmosphere was incredible and the fun ride route was very well marshalled and signposted, making it safe and easy to follow for young and inexperienced riders.
“I shall certainly be signing up again this year and can’t wait to get back on the saddle!”
